See through the sheers this summer
Menswear is in its zenith at the moment. Men’s dressing is changing drastically and getting more vibrant and adventurous. It is no more restricted to old rules and dress codes. Designers are re-imagining novel designs fused with fine tailoring. Change is pretty much visible everywhere. And spring is the perfect time for all the experiments […]

SKINCARE IN QUARANTINE
In my Quarantine and chill series, I’ve spoken about games, colour therapy but this one’s not about fun with friends or family or about work life. The time spent working or chilling with family is irreplaceable but giving time to your own self is just as important. It’s time to rejuvenate! My funda is simple […]

My Go-To Work from Home Outfit
While fashion and style may not be top of mind for most of us during this uncertain time, I find focusing on the lighter things–like what I’m going to wear each day, to be a welcome escape from the new reality of life indoors. One thing that always gets me through the day, especially a long work day, is wearing something I feel great in. Not only does fashion have a way of bringing us happiness and inspiration, but I’ve seen firsthand how clothes can instantly change one’s mood. So today I wanted to share my go-to work from home outfit, in hopes of inspiring you to put something on that makes you look and feel amazing!
As someone who’s been working from home for over 10 years now, I find that getting dressed in itself is often the best way to boost my mood. Even if I’m not dressed-up, I still enjoy putting something on that brings me joy, especially when I’m in the house for long periods of time.
When it comes to work-from-home looks, the key for me personally is comfort without sacrificing style, which usually means a cute top and jeans most days, like the look I’m wearing here. This entire outfit is made up of recent finds from Walmart, accessories included. When it comes to seasonal styles and wardrobe essentials I can stock my closet with time and time again, I know I can count on Walmart Fashion to have the best options that don’t break the bank!
The bodysuit–which is a great alternative to a regular top, because it stays tucked in place without the fuss, is from Sofia Jeans by Sofia Vergara, a brand I’ve been wearing since it first launched last year. From amazing size inclusive denim to separates, this brand is one I always have my eye on for great quality finds at an affordable price. These utility joggers are knit, so they look like denim but feel like lightweight sweatpants (GENIUS!), also from Sofia Jeans by Sofia Vergara. Before popping into my backyard to shoot these pictures, I added the striped tote, strappy sandals and earrings to complete the look. For a day at home I’m obviously lounging in the bodysuit and joggers sans shoes and accessories, but I can’t wait to wear this entire look out on the town in the coming months!

These 6 Articles will Boost your Body Confidence
With the majority of us confined to our living spaces, struggles with body positivity and body confidence are at an all time high. In the middle of a pandemic, getting to the gym isn’t an option, and working out from home just isn’t on the list of priorities for most of us right now. And thanks to stress and anxiety that often trigger negative thoughts and disordered behaviors around food and eating, most of us are really struggling right now.
In an effort to help the GWC community through the bopo struggle, I wanted to share a list of articles we’ve published here on the site over the years, all related to body confidence and body positivity. My hope is that these articles, movie recommendations and books will help you (or someone you know) find your way back to a body positive mindset.
Here are 6 articles I hope will boost your body confidence:
1. How to give your body confidence a complete overhaul.
2. Unconditional self-love and beauty at any size.
5. Body positive documentaries.
6. Must-read body positive books.

D.I.Y; BEADED BRACELET
I have been pretty anxious and a little stressed these days, I am not gonna lie. The uncertainty of what’s happening is quite overwhelming and it’s been messing with my inner peace a little…I am trying o keep myself calmed and centred with some yoga and meditation but I feel like I needed an extra push, which is why I decided to make this “CALM DOWN” bracelet :P. I would have preferred; “Calm the F down”, but that would have taken the whole wrist and leave no space for some colourful beads. As I was making it, I decided to photograph the process for you so you can also make your own -since its the easiest thing ever!-.
If you end up making some bracelets, let me know so I can check them out! :)
And without further ado, here is how you make it;
You simply need some colourful beads (whichever size or color combination you like), letter beads (got mine on amazon), waxed cord (or whichever cord you have available during quarantine) and scissors.
Insert the beads into the cord. I chose pink an orange as a color combination so I do one of each before I get to the letter beads. I use the “Calm Down” words because I need to constantly remind myself to calm down, but you can simply choose whichever word/words you want. Make sure you add the same amount of color beads on each side next to the words you choose (to make sure it looks symmetrical).
Tie some knots on the last beads from each side to secure it in place.
This is how it should look like.
I used a double knot to tie it to my wrist. Ask someone to help you since it’s hard to do it with just one hand.
Thats it!!! Wear it proudly and once you get tired of it, cut the cord with a pair of scissors and change the color combination or words.

How to DIY an Easy at Home Pedicure
I don’t know about you, but it’s been over 5 weeks since my last professional pedicure, and my toe nails literally HURT, to say the least. If I’m being completely honest, I haven’t attempted my own pedicure since my early 20s thanks to some pretty sever ingrown toe nail infections. However, with social-distancing in full effect, and dry feet, chipping polish and painful toe nails staring me in the face, I’m ready to take on the task myself thanks to a simple set of DIY instructions my go-to nail artist shared with me!
Here’s how to DIY an easy at home pedicure:

10 Things I’m Doing During Lockdown
It’s week 4 of lockdown, and I’m finally starting to find my footing. While my stress level is still pretty high most days, I’m making it a point to stay productive, doing things I enjoy to alleviate stress, tackle back-burner tasks and more.
Here are 10 things I’m doing during lockdown:
1. Making time for self-care. Right now, this means getting in a good stretch each morning using the yoga ball that’s been sitting in my garage since my last pregnancy. My favorite stretch involves sitting on the ball, walking my feet out until my back is fully supported, then stretching my arms overhead, reaching as far back as possible–although basic, it feels AMAZING on my entire trunk and serves as 3 minutes of quiet meditation before starting my day.
2. Zoom chats with family and friends. Most of us aren’t able to see our loved one’s outside of those we live with, so making time to check-in face-to-face is a great way to keep loneliness at bay. I come from a big, tight-knit family where we typically see each other once per week at a minimum, so being able to check in via Zoom has been a nice way to get in the quality time we’re missing out on.
3. Going for a walks. Whether it’s around the block or just running around our backyard, getting some fresh air at least once per day has been a welcomed change of scenery.
4. Deep cleaning and organizing. I typically do a standard house cleaning ever other week, but I’ve started tackling other parts of the house that don’t get much attention. Closet clean-outs for the whole family have been really eye-opening, as well as de-cluttering spaces that are often overlooked, like the kitchen pantry and my kids’ toy area. Next-up: purging clutter + organizing the garage!
5. Slowly getting through the list of TV shows and movies I’ve been wanting to watch over the past few years. Just finished West World with my hubby, and although I’m usually not into sci-fi I can’t wait to start season 3 this week!
6. Date nights on the couch with my husband. We haven’t had a real date night in over 6 months, so spending time together over a TV show, movie, or just chatting has been a really nice way to pass the time on weekdays when the kids are asleep, and on weekends.
7. Diving into Pinterest for fashion, home, hair, makeup and design inspiration.
8. Getting through the stack of magazines piled up on my desk. I used to have a subscription to pretty much every fashion magazine, but haven’t found time to actually read through a couple years of issues, so it’s been great to catch-up after all this time!
9. Learning Hindu alongside my son. When Dave and I first got engaged I was on a mission to learn Hindu so I could one day teach our kids to speak it as well, but life got in the way and I never got around to finishing Rosetta Stone. These days I’m having fun learning alongside my son, 6, who’s loving being my teacher!
10. Writing. For the past almost 10 years, the only writing I’ve done has been or this blog and my social channels. My love of poetry and journaling fell to the waist-side after marriage, but lately I’m enjoying getting a few things down on actual paper versus as a note in my phone.

CHOCOLATE SWIRL BANANA BREAD RECIPE
WHO doesn’t love Banana Bread, am I right?
I have been making banana oat pancakes for years, but I never adventured myself into the wonders of baking my own Banana Bread until I found myself quarantined in my home for what now feels like an eternity (It’s day 25 I think, I have lost count).
I have done a few things to keep me sane these past few days and even though I already enjoyed cooking, I am finding that I might be a lot better than I gave myself credit for. Since I was gonna attempt my first Banana Bread, I thought; Go big or Go home!, so I added a chocolate twist to make it extra tasty.
So let’s begin shall we…
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
-3 ripe bananas
-1 cup of wheat flour
-2 eggs
-1/2 cup of Greek Yogurt
-1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
-2 table spoons of agave syrup
-1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
-Half of a chocolate bar ( I buy Tony’s Chocoloney because they are fair traded and ethically sourced, plus their chocolate bars are amazing )
- Preheat the oven at 180 degrees celsius ( about 325 F )Smash the three bananas in a big bowl until they are nice as smooth.
- Mash the three bananas until they are nice and smooth. Add the two eggs and mix well. Add the Greek yogurt, vanilla and agave syrup and mix everything together.
- Add the flour and baking powder to your mixture and mix well.
- You can either place the chocolate bar in the microwave for a few seconds but I prefer to use the Bain-Marie method, so the chocolate melts slowly and more smoothly. Boil some water and pour into a large pan. In a smaller bowl, place the chocolate bar and then sit the smaller bowl on top of the bigger pan with the boiling water (*make sure the water DOESN’T come inside the bowl with the chocolate!). The chocolate will start melting, just mix slowly with a spoon until it’s all creamy and melted.
- Once the chocolate is melted, pass on some of the banana mixture into your chocolate bowl and mix ( I only do about three tablespoons ).
- Start pouring your mixture into a grease mould. do the banana mixture first, then layer a couple of circles of your chocolate batter. Repeat with the banana batter for another layer and finish it off with a couple of extra rings of chocolate batter on top.
- Create a marble pattern with a knife. Just be creative, it’s your unique swirl design! :)
- Put your masterpiece in the oven for about 45 minutes ( check if its ready by inserting a toothpick into the bread, if the toothpick comes out dry or just with a small amount of crumbles, your bread is ready!)
- After the 45 minutes, bring your bread outside the oven and leave it cool down for 15 minutes. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT try to get your bread off the mould straight out of the oven, it will ruin your cake (it happened only first attempt, rookie mistake).
