Online Shopping – How It’s Transforming Men’s Fashion

Gone are the times when men had limited fashion choices. Today, men have just as many, if not more, fashion choices to select from. From chino pants to French-collared shirts and loafers shoes, the men’s fashion range is wide. Men too, just like women, wear clothes that best suit their personality. For example, if a […]

ICELANDIC GLACIER

I’M WEARING  >>  Pants: American Apparel  |  Boots: Henry Kole  |  Sweatshirt: H&M Men (I cut it to make it cropped)  |  Earrings: ZARA

Not only is Iceland my favourite place on earth, but this might be my favourite shoot ever on the blog. I don’t know why that is, perhaps because of the memories of standing there, in the middle of a Glacier in Iceland, feeling so small and so overwhelmed of how beautiful our planet. I can get emotional talking to you about how passionate I feel about Iceland and how much emotion it triggers in me. If you ever get the change to go, or if you are trying to pick a new holiday destination, skip the beach for once and go to Iceland. The beauty that you will discover here is unlike anything you have ever seen. You wont ever regret this.

Sonam Kapoor Ahuja’s final Cannes 2019 look took 495 hours to create

50 women from different walks of life showcase the many shades of nude

Call it fashion’s ‘you can sit with us’ moment or the antidote to statement, Insta-bait fashion, but women world over are taking refuge in the normalcy of nude. Beige for spring/summer 2019, in all its permutations and combinations—leather, latex, ruched, sequinned and quilted—has a taker in each of us. The new nude covers more neutral ground, too. Spanning coffee, caramel, ecru, ivory, flesh and blush, the pared-back palette is as versatile as its wearer. Tiers of tassels on an octogenarian, fawn layers for a fuller figure, modest hemlines and necklines for the conservative dresser—it’s an adapt-and-abide kind of colour.

Vogue photographed 50 women from all over India to throw light on the myriad of shades nude can encompass, showcasing diversity at its finest. Scroll ahead to take a look.

Kate Middleton steps out in a princess-worthy pair of sneakers

Royal watchers are used to seeing Kate Middleton wearing Alexander McQueen gowns and Catherine Walker suits, but the Duchess of Cambridge’s wardrobe isn’t limited to formalwear. This morning at the Chelsea Flower Show, she gave fans a treat by showcasing her casual side. On hand to preview the Back to Nature Garden, an outdoor space she created with landscape architects Andrée Davies and Adam White, Middleton wore a crisp white broderie anglaise blouse by M.I.H. Jeans, tan Massimo Dutti twill culottes, and a pair of Superga’s Cotu classic sneakers. Polished yet relaxed enough to climb trees and run around with the children, Middleton’s outfit spoke to her carefree, off-duty sensibilities.

Though Middleton is usually one to follow royal protocol around dressing, the duchess appears to have loosened up her style lately. Take the Breton stripes she wore to the King’s Cup Regatta earlier this month or the fashion-forward Gucci pussybow blouse she chose for a visit to the Henry Fawcett Children’s Centre in March. Her latest outfit aligns perfectly with the nature-focused mission of her new project while offering s a laid-back approach to personal style that’s still worthy of a royal.

CASUAL BUT MAKE IT CHIC

I’M WEARING  >>  Trench-Coat: Burberry  |  Top: H&M Trend  |  Pants: Brandy Melville  |  Boots: Senso  |  Bag: Gucci  |  Earring hoops: Fashionology.nl

I am well aware that this look will cause mixed reviews, bit you know how I feel about sporty looks. I basically live in them (when I’m not shooting). Today was a really busy day as I am prepping to fly to Iceland tomorrow, so I wanted to wear something extremely casual. However, I decided to mix it with these sock boots and my boyfriends Burberry Trench-coat to make it a little more Chic and a little less gym.

Anyway, I am heading to Iceland tomorrow and I CAN’T wait to share this trip with you guys. I went there two years ago and the place brought tears to my eyes. I have never seen anything so dramatically beautiful as the Icelandic landscapes. If this wasn’t on your bucket list, I highly suggest you add it!

Love you guys and thank you for always reading me!

On the Cannes 2019 red carpet: Tulle death do us apart

“There’s a whole category of people who miss out by not allowing themselves to be weird enough” — Alain de Botton

That was Botton expounding on the quirks and deviations from predictable behaviour that contribute to the general category of things we describe as ‘fun’. The Cannes Film Festival 2019 red carpet rolled out again this year, and in came the Cinderellas. In tulle creations like loofahs for Cyclops. In gowns with trains that need crews on constant bend-lift-bend-arrange duty as if caught in an episode of Russian Doll, only no one’s dying. Big Bird moments that sometimes take off and many a time don’t. We’re not judging. Cannes is a crowded red carpet; there’s a jury, the stars whose films are premiering, the friends of stars whose films are premiering, brand ambassadors… While there are many ways to draw the attention of the red carpet’s over-stimulated photographers and making it to who-wore-what lists, occupying red carpet yardage has become one of the most oft-used tropes.

When Sophia Loren wore a tulle and lace gown in 1955 at the premiere of The Sign Of Venus, she’d hardly have imagined the echoes that would sound at the venue more than six decades later. But Cannes has been about the mix, the days of photo-calls and stripes-and-wedges resort chic morphing into heavy-duty glamour that showed these were men and women of many talents.

blake lively at cannes
Blake Lively at Cannes Film Festival 2016. Image: Shutterstock

So for every Liz Taylor wearing a tiara, there was a Madonna who shed off her cape to reveal her Jean Paul Gaultier conical bra-and-briefs. Where if a Blake Lively turned to a glittering Atelier Versace to show off her curves (baby bump et al), Carey Mulligan stunned with simplicity in a monochrome Vionnet at the premiere of Inside Llewyn Davis. It’s where that eternal icon of French girl nonchalance, Jane Birkin, made the cane bag a red carpet accessory, and where in 1988, a young in-love Kate Moss proved she needed nothing but an LBD and some Johnny Depp on her arm. Where, just two years ago, wearing a mottled green Alberta Ferretti and sunglasses as if the flashbulbs were proving a bit too much, Susan Sarandon gave the Kar-Jenners some décolletage goals. Where Kristen Stewart honed her inner rebel that would soon say off-with-their-heels, and where the other Bella (Hadid) strutted by in that red hot Alexandre Vauthier.

From our shores, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja’s much successful Cannes appearances have been marked by creations from her favourite Anamika Khanna, while Nandita Das did justice to her turn on the Cannes jury with a red handloom sari that had apparently already been in her wardrobe.

Coming right on the heels of the Met Gala and its camp theme, of gowns with “no photo please” begging to be clicked and Instagrammed, one yearns for a bit of a palate cleanser; a sorbet after that rib-eye steak. We want to see our stars have fun. To somehow stay aligned with their personal aesthetic and also step out of their comfort zone. To go behind silhouette and palette and, as cliched as it sounds, let the woman shine through. And please, please—don’t be boring. No pressure.

RUST.

Still having rainy spring nights in the city so essentially I’ll still wear this jacket until I can haha. I went for some 70s meets 90s vibes with this look. Flared pants but some 90’s fabrics like this ribbed top and a printed dark blue pants. All my outfit is from ASOS including this jacket I got like two years ago and its still a favorite. My hair is definitely shorter as you can see, I decided to take a break from the extensions and chop it up a bit for a fresh change for summer! What do you think?

Top – ASOS
Pants- ASOS
Jacket – ASOS / old but similar here!
Shoes – Delias / similar here

Anyway, I hope you guys are doing well! I know ive been MIA in the blog but I have so many outfits to post over here so keep your eyes peeled because i’m back 🙂

SHIMMERY SWIMWEAR

I’M WEARING  >> One Piece Swimsuit: Oseree  |  Hat: DIOR  |  Shirt: H&M Trend  |  Bikini: Oseree

I must have been living under a rock, because it was only recently (before my trip to Coachella and thanks to my agent), that I discovered this amazing swimwear brand. I normally tend to stay away from shimmer and glitter -although I have been know to enjoy my fair share of sequinned items-, but there is no escaping when it comes to this swimwear. The moment I laid my eyes on their website, I was hooked and as much as I tried to narrow it down, It was too hard to do it. They have these glitter beauties as one pieces and bikinis, so evidently I got one of each, although I am seriously questioning if I should also get myself the black bikini for My trip to Mexico. I am OBSESSED!

THE MAGIC OF GOLDEN MILK AND HOW IT’S HELPING MY STOMACH

I shared on my sorties last week that I have been dealing with some stomach issues recently. In fact, I have been dealing with stomach issues as far as I can remember but somehow, I have managed to keep them controlled throughout the years.

First and foremost, I am one of those poor souls that have been diagnosed with lactose intolerance, which seems like the end of the world if you love chocolate like I do. I somehow have learnt to accept it and mostly got on with my life as usual (despite the usual cravings every now and then, specially during my period). I am not allergic to lactose, but if it slips in one of my meals, I feel absolutely awful for the next hours to come so I try to avoid it all together if possible.
Along with lactose intolerance, I was also -recently- diagnosed with onion and garlic intolerance which I’ve heard is actually quite common, so despite my love for both I also have to avoid them. Long story short, I have a sensitive stomach so I tend to be quite careful with what I put in my mouth.

Its not unusual for me to get an indigestion but two weeks ago, I felt awful for longer than usual and I just couldn’t understand what was going on.  I waited a few days and tried to eat healthier but I was feeling sick every day, my stomach was super bloated, discomfort in my solar plexus area and I felt like I was having a perpetual indigestion. Almost 9 days later, my boyfriend told me it was time to go to the doctor and off I went.

She told me that it could either be a stomach virus (which was unlikely since those tend to last about 2/3 days), but that another explanation could be that I had gastritis, so we needed to test for that.

I am always so weary of taking medication and antibiotics because I know how harsh they can be with the stomach, so whenever I feel sick, I always try to research home remedies that can help me with the complaints. After my doctors appointment, I got home and started typing away because I was determined and convinced I would be able to help myself heal (if you haven’t watched the Netflix documentary “Heal”, I really recommend it!).

During my research, I kept bumping into one common denominator: Turmeric and so down the rabbit hole I went.

But what is Turmeric;

“Turmeric is the spice that gives curry its yellow colour and it has been used in India for thousands of years as a spice and medicinal herb.

Recently, science has started to back up what Indians have known for a long time — it really does contain compounds with medicinal properties. These compounds are called curcuminoids, the most important of which is curcumin.

Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. However, the curcumin content of turmeric is not that high. It’s around 3%, by weight. Most of the studies on this herb are using turmeric extracts that contain mostly curcumin itself, with dosages usually exceeding 1 gram per day. It would be very difficult to reach these levels just using the turmeric spice in your foods. Therefore, if you want to experience the full effects, you need to take a supplement that contains significant amounts of curcumin.”

This text is an extract from one of the many articles I have read on turmeric in the past few days, but what I REALLY wanted to share with you is the effects I -almost immediately- started seeing after taking it. As I was reading all of tis information, I came across with the magic potion of “Golden Milk, which is essentially a turmeric latte or a matcha latte but if you swap the coffee or the matcha for turmeric powder. I went too my closest supermarket to but a tray with turmeric powder and I begin my test.

I made my first Golden milk about 5 days ago and after about an hour, I could already notice a MASSIVE difference. My stomach bloating went down so fast and after 9 days of being double my size due to stomach issues, I was super happy and relieved to be feeling like myself again, believe me!. I have been replacing my morning coffee with Golden milk for the past few days and after reading the benefits but not only day, seeing the difference it has made in my body, I am not planning on stopping. Further than that though, I am planning to add turmeric supplements into my diet as weak just to make sure I am getting the right dosage to really take advantage of all the health benefits.

Anyway! After a whole lotta explanations and my own personal testimonial, I wanted to share the -very simple- recipe with you;

-1/2 cup of milk (I can’t drink milk so I am replacing the milk with either coconut, oat or almond milk)
-1 tsp of turmeric powder
-1 small piece of grated ginger OR 1/2 tsp of ginger powder
-1/2 tsp of cinnamon powder
-1 pinch of black ground pepper
-1 tsp of honey or brown sugar (optional).

What I do is heat up the milk, add all the ingredients and then use one of those little milk frother machines to make it al foamy.

The reason for adding the pinch of pepper is not for the taste, but because the substance found in pepper helps with the absorption of all the good stuff turmeric has into our system, so make sure you don’t miss that step.

I REALLY hope this helps you too and I would love to hear stories fi you have already tried this, or which other home remedies you use for a healthier gut. Also, if you want to read more benefits on drinking Golden Milk, click HERE.

Have an amazing weekend guys!
