Royal watchers are used to seeing Kate Middleton wearing Alexander McQueen gowns and Catherine Walker suits, but the Duchess of Cambridge’s wardrobe isn’t limited to formalwear. This morning at the Chelsea Flower Show, she gave fans a treat by showcasing her casual side. On hand to preview the Back to Nature Garden, an outdoor space she created with landscape architects Andrée Davies and Adam White, Middleton wore a crisp white broderie anglaise blouse by M.I.H. Jeans, tan Massimo Dutti twill culottes, and a pair of Superga’s Cotu classic sneakers. Polished yet relaxed enough to climb trees and run around with the children, Middleton’s outfit spoke to her carefree, off-duty sensibilities.
Though Middleton is usually one to follow royal protocol around dressing, the duchess appears to have loosened up her style lately. Take the Breton stripes she wore to the King’s Cup Regatta earlier this month or the fashion-forward Gucci pussybow blouse she chose for a visit to the Henry Fawcett Children’s Centre in March. Her latest outfit aligns perfectly with the nature-focused mission of her new project while offering s a laid-back approach to personal style that’s still worthy of a royal.
