On a normal day, what do Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev and Sabyasachi Mukherjee have in common? One a mystic and the other a couturier—it would seem unlikely that their paths would cross and hardly ever for the sake of fashion. As fate would have it, Sadhguru and Mukherjee are joining forces for the Fashion for Peace initiative in New York . Mukherjee, who may not be a follower of the Sadhguru’s teachings, does see eye-to-eye with the spiritual leader’s work dedicated to social upliftment. The couturier along with Norma Kamali, Mara Hoffman and Mimi Prober will support the cause of conscious fashion tonight with a showcase in New York.
The Isha Foundation, a non-profit organisation founded by Vasudev, has worked on curating over a hundred Indian textiles that have been a part of India’s design vocabulary for nearly 5,000 years. Each of the participating designers has worked on creating exclusive looks that will champion the weaves. The presentation will be produced by People’s Revolution along with the students of the High School of Art and Design, a New York City public school that aims towards educating and inspiring gifted students to become artists.
Expected to be seen at the gathering are names like Naeem Khan, Christie Brinkley, Christy Turlington, Donna Karan, Fern Mallis, Linda Fargo, Surina Jindal and more.
